The past two engagement sessions to take place in Gainesville have definitely been interesting as far as the weather goes. As I was driving to Gainesville one Sunday afternoon to meet up with this sweet couple, it was beautiful and sunny and then as soon as I pulled into town and parked at The Swamp, it was just gray. I didn’t think it was supposed to rain that day, but you know, it’s Florida. I told Adrienne and Tommy that we would go for as long as we could and then go from there. Needless to say, it never rained on us. There were basically black clouds around us and I saw lightning a couple of times. We wrapped up our session and within 60 seconds of being in my car, it started to downpour. Talk about divine intervention!
I have known Adrienne for quite a long time now, so when I saw on Facebook that Tommy had proposed, I couldn’t have been more excited for her! That is, until she contacted me about being her wedding photographer. I love when I already have these personal connections with people and they want me to be a part of such a special day of their lives. That’s also why I feel it’s so important to have engagement sessions with my clients. It provides a time for us to get to know each other a little. Adrienne and I had a meeting on FaceTime to talk more about her wedding planning and to start working on getting her on the books. Of course she showed off her beautiful ring as well!
Adrienne and Tommy are such huge Gator Fans, so it only made sense that part of their session was at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field aka The Swamp in Gainesville! They faithfully donned orange and blue and we made our way around the stadium. I really couldn’t have been more proud! I believe that Tommy knows every known fact about that Stadium, I dare you to quiz him. After the Stadium, we drove down to the Baughman Center on Lake Alice. This little place is so charming and the lake is great. I usually get to see alligators swimming around, however, this time I about stepped on a snake. Yes, for real. I can’t show you the picture because I have to be able to describe it as bigger than it really was…you know because it was basically a python!
Adrienne and Tommy really are just a sweet, laid-back couple. You can tell they adore each other and love to have fun. They smile and laugh a lot! They don’t take themselves too serious and I like that! Adrienne and Tommy, it was such a pleasure spending the afternoon with you and having fun! I cannot wait for your January wedding! It’s going to be perfect!!
xoxo,
Holly
